Allergies
What are Allergies?
Allergies are sensitivities that can elicit an immune response into attacking the substance in an attempt to rid it from the body. The immune cells in the body attack the allergen as it does a virus, bacterial infection, or toxin. An allergy reaction is the immune response toward the substance the body has tagged as a potential threat. This immune response is known using blood tests as immunoglobulin. Immunoglobulins are broken down into IgE, IgM, IgG, and IgA. Immunoglobulins are released by blood cells as a chemical director to influence and direct an immune attack toward any given allergy of sensitivity. They mark the allergen so the white blood cells will notice it and create a battle. Allergies or sensitivities are not the same as if something is healthy or unhealthy for your body. For example, you may not be allergic to sugar-but it is still unhealthy for the body; and you may be allergic to broccoli although it is healthy for the body.
